Terms of Use

Last updated: October 27, 2026

Welcome to PaperDenDen (the "App"), provided by PaperDenDen Studio, an individual developer ("we", "us"). For purchases through the Microsoft Store, the seller information in the license terms attached to the Microsoft Store product page applies. By installing, opening or using the App, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App. If you are under the age of majority, please have your parent or legal guardian read and agree to these Terms before you install or use the App.

1. What the App is

  1. The App is a tool for working with PDF files and images on your own computer, for example merging, splitting, compressing and editing PDFs and converting images.
  2. Your files are processed only on your computer and are never uploaded to us or to any third party. The App does not need an internet connection to process files.
  3. The App itself uses the network only in the following cases, and never sends your files or document contents:
    • Purchases, purchase restoration and license checks, which are handled by the app store you obtained the App from (for example, the Microsoft Store).
    • When you click "Report a problem" or a link to our website, Terms of Use or Privacy Policy, your computer's browser opens our website. The App does not preload these pages, and the links carry no document contents or other user data.
  4. Updates to the App, and the updates and connections of system components such as Windows, the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime and the app store, are managed by their respective providers under their own rules and are not part of the App's processing. See our Privacy Policy for details.

2. License

  1. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal or work purposes. The App is licensed, not sold.
  2. The number of devices on which you may install the App follows the rules of the app store you obtained it from and of your store account. The App itself does not impose an additional limit.
  3. The App's copyright, trademarks (including the names "PaperDenDen" and 紙窩窩, the App icon and the mascot "P吉") and other intellectual property belong to us or their respective owners. These Terms do not grant you any right to use those trademarks or images.

3. Trial and purchase

  1. New users may try all features of the App free of charge for 30 days, with no usage limits during the trial.
  2. After the trial ends, all features of the App are locked until you purchase the full version.
  3. The full version is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. The price shown on the app store's purchase page applies (based on USD; the store converts it to local currency and taxes).
  4. Future major version updates are included at no extra cost after purchase.
  5. Trials and purchases are handled through the app store's own mechanisms. Purchases made in different stores are not interchangeable.
  6. The trial end time is the time provided by the app store. To prevent trial circumvention:
    • If the App detects that your computer's clock has been set back earlier than a time it previously recorded, it becomes temporarily unavailable until the actual time passes the latest recorded time.
    • If your computer's clock has ever been set past the trial end time, the trial ends early as a result and does not come back when the clock is set back.
    • Changing only the time zone has no effect. Please keep the Windows date and time correct (we recommend setting them automatically), and contact us if you have a problem.
  7. From the moment the trial ends, no new operation can be started and no further editing can be done until you purchase, with only two exceptions:
    • Processing that started before the trial ended can finish and be saved.
    • Unsaved content in the PDF editor at the moment the trial ended can be saved once, as it was at that moment. Opening this save uses up that one chance even if you then cancel it; choosing another location because the original file is protected still counts as the same save.

4. Payment and refunds

  1. Payment, receipts, invoices and refunds are handled by the app store you purchased the App from, under its own policies.
  2. The App is digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, and a free 30-day full trial is provided before purchase, so please make sure the App meets your needs before you buy. By purchasing the App, you agree that the App is supplied immediately after purchase and that the 7-day unconditional right of withdrawal under Article 19 of Taiwan's Consumer Protection Act does not apply, as permitted by Article 19, Paragraph 2 of that Act and Article 2, Subparagraph 5 of the Guidelines on Reasonable Exceptions to the Right of Withdrawal in Distance Sales. Refund requests are still handled by the app store under its own refund policies.
  3. This section does not affect any consumer rights you have under the laws of your country or region.

5. Your responsibilities

  1. Back up important files yourself. The App never overwrites your original files and always saves results as new files, but data can still be lost through hardware failure, user error or other causes.
  2. Check that the results are correct before you rely on them, especially for important documents such as contracts, invoices and applications.
  3. You must have the legal right to use the files you process.
  4. You must not use the App for any unlawful purpose, including forging or altering documents, signatures or seals, or infringing anyone's copyright, privacy or other rights.

6. Restrictions

Except as expressly permitted by law or by the open source licenses described in Section 7, you must not:

  1. circumvent, crack or disable the App's trial, licensing or other technical protection measures;
  2. reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, including the components provided by Microsoft;
  3. rent, sell, sublicense or otherwise distribute the App or any part of it;
  4. remove or modify any copyright, trademark or license notices in the App;
  5. provide the App or any of its components to others as a stand-alone service;
  6. violate any domestic or international export control laws that apply to the App and its technology, including restrictions on destinations, end users and end use.

7. Open source and third-party components

  1. The App includes third-party components provided under open source licenses (for example MIT, Apache-2.0 and Mozilla Public License 2.0). Their names, license texts and how to obtain their source code are listed under "Third-party licenses" in the App's About dialog and on the licenses page of our website.
  2. Those components are used under their own licenses. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights you have under those open source licenses; if these Terms conflict with an open source license, the open source license prevails for that component.
  3. The App includes redistributable components provided by Microsoft (such as the C++ runtime) and uses the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime on your computer. Microsoft and other third-party component providers do not endorse or provide any express or implied warranty for the App. To the extent permitted by law, the protections given to us in Section 9 (No warranty) and Section 10 (Limitation of liability) also apply to Microsoft and those third-party component providers.
  4. Microsoft, your computer hardware manufacturer and your network service provider are not responsible for providing any support for the App.

8. Updates

  1. Updates to the App are delivered only through the app store. The App itself does not check for new versions. Updates to system components such as Windows and the WebView2 Runtime are managed separately by their providers.
  2. We may update the App to fix bugs, improve features or comply with laws, but we do not promise any particular feature or update.

9. No warranty

  1. To the extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is". We do not warrant that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will be fit for your particular purpose.
  2. Results produced by the App (for example image quality after compression or layout after conversion) may differ from the original files.

10. Limitation of liability

  1. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App is limited to the amount you actually paid for the App, or USD 5.99 if you have not paid during the free trial.
  2. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost profits or lost data.
  3. The two paragraphs above do not apply to: our intentional misconduct or gross negligence; any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law; or rights you have under mandatory laws of your country or region, including consumer protection laws.

11. Termination

If you breach these Terms, your license ends automatically and you must stop using and remove the App. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. We will post the updated Terms on our website and update the "Last updated" date, and we will notify you of material changes through an App update or other reasonable means. By updating or continuing to use the App after the changes take effect, you agree to the updated Terms; if you do not agree, please stop using the App.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

  1. These Terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China).
  2. Disputes arising from these Terms shall be submitted to the Taiwan Kaohsiung District Court as the court of first instance. This does not affect your right to bring proceedings in another court of competent jurisdiction under Article 47 of Taiwan's Consumer Protection Act, the small claims procedures of Taiwan's Code of Civil Procedure, or other mandatory laws of your country or region.

14. Language and severability

  1. These Terms are provided in Chinese and English. If the two versions differ, the Chinese version prevails, unless the laws of your country or region require otherwise.
  2. If any part of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable by a court or authority of competent jurisdiction, that part will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

15. Contact

If you have any questions, please use the contact form on our website (https://paperdenden.com/en/support/#report) or email [email protected], and we will reply to you.
